It Totally Matters

Web designers can write code like the devil himself. But when it comes to knowing their way around a sentence, they don't have a clue. We do.

Milwaukee website copywriters who write convincingly and effectively on any topic

Some of our customers are equipped to provide their own website content. We have more who count on us to write the copy professionally. Effective Internet copywriting always follows three dictates.

First, economy. Use words sparingly, come right to the point and then make the point in a creative way that grabs attention. That's the essence of friendliness on the Web. You'll be seen as user-hostile if your content meanders and drones on.

This site gives you a taste of our recommended style. It is elegantly simple.

The second dictate: brand reinforcement. Effective Internet copywriting vigorously projects your brand values while seizing every opportunity to reinforce your value-added proposition. Sometimes, the value-added proposition is difficult for the client to articulate. Or the client's value-added vision might be incomplete. We can help you clarify all of that in writing the website.

Finally, there's SEO - search engine optimization. While still observing the above prime directives, the copy must judiciously embed your high-power Google keywords. They are how people find a company like you on the Internet. You might think you already know some of the keywords. But research and testing are the only means of knowing for sure. There are going to be some surprises.

A Few Other Simple Rules

• Be terse, presenting your information in enticing little bites.

• Put the good stuff first. Users will just scroll down to it anyway, skipping all the fluff; so please save them that trouble.

• Better yet: Completely delete fluff.

• Eschew jargon; such a turn-off. If you must use, explain it clearly for folks. Never assume they understand.

• Be conversational; walk away from stilted.

• Include calls to action.

• Be humble and accessible; never brag.

• Please, no massive blocks of daunting gray text.

• Lighten up the copy with plenty of subheadings.

• If you make people scroll down beyond two screens, you are running on, annoyingly.

• The bullet point is your best friend.

We absolutely do not insist on doing the writing. Please just know that it's there if you need it. For more information, give us a call today. Talk to the local website designers who can also write up a storm.

Our Default Mode of Expression: Elegant Simplicity

simply elegant internet copywriting mobile

We write confidently, creatively and persuasively for all media. The copy will be lively, clean, crisp and compelling. Our comfort zone spans all arenas of advocacy and all modes of expression. We write for results, walking in the shoes of the reader.

An incisive analytical framework guides our approach. We pierce through the clutter to get to the heart of the story. Then tell it in an imaginitive way that grabs audience attention. We can adapt to any style, but our default preference is simply elegant.

We won't force this style upon clients. But we strongly recommend it because it is time-tested for audience friendliness. And perfect for the Internet.

Internet users are speed readers. You have eight or nine seconds to engage them before they jump away. If you beat around the bush and drone on they'll get annoyed.

They like elegant simplcity because it's all about economy and accuracy. The sentences gleam with forceful precision. Vivid nouns and strong verbs form their backbone. The clean, uncluttered and flowing language brings intrinsic reading pleasure. A unifying clarity of purpose binds it together tenaciously.

Good writing isn't enough, though. In addition the writer must be able to humbly envision being the reader; must inhabit the reader’s universe. Only then can good writing make the leap to persuasive storytelling. Why this approach?

One word: courtesy. No one has time for communications which are bloated, meandering, self-important and boastful. It's not how friends relate to one another. Your future customers will not enter into a conversation unless they first are made to feel at ease.

That’s why Javelin Communications favors elegant simplicity. Elegant simplicity is the key to telling stories that rivet audience attention. What's yours?
